Veterinary Pet Health Guidelines
Proper care can help ensure a happy and healthy life for your pet. Haile Plantation Animal Clinic believes that working closely with your veterinarian is the best way to ensure good health for the animals you love. Remaining aware of your pet’s changing health requires a thorough examination performed by your veterinarian. For this reason, we recommend that all pet owners bring their pets in for wellness checkups twice a year. These semi-annual checkups give our veterinary staff an opportunity to observe the general well-being of your pet, and to spot developing medical conditions before they worsen. More frequent visits also help to make sure your pet stays current on all AAHA recommended vaccinations.
Pets suffering from an undiagnosed medical condition often undergo changes in behavior and appearance. Awareness of the following conditions may help you recognize when your pet needs medical attention:
- Fluctuation in weight or appetite
- Excessive or inappropriate urination
- Persistent thirst
- Vomiting
- Diarrhea
- Anxiety
- Aggression
- Difficulty walking or getting up
If you’ve noticed any of these changes in your pet, please call our office and discuss what you’ve observed with the Haile Plantation Animal Clinic staff.
When you visit us, we suggest that you bring a stool sample with you in a clean container. We use these samples to check for internal parasites; having the sample ready makes the testing process quick and easy and will shorten the length of your appointment.
